X (Twitter) bio character limit
An X bio can be up to 160 characters. Your display name has its own limit of 50, and your location and website go in separate fields, so you do not need to spend the bio on them.

Check the same text against X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google and SMS at once, with your own limit set to this one.

What counts as a character
- Every letter, space, emoji and punctuation mark counts as one.
- Links and @mentions count as the characters you type.
- Line breaks count as one character each.
Best length vs the maximum
- Say what you do or post about in the first few words; the bio shows in search results and when people hover over your name.
- Use the website field for your link instead of the bio.
- A little personality helps, but a bio that only lists hashtags tells people nothing.
Examples
- “Data journalist covering climate. Charts, sources, no hot takes.” (64 characters)
- “Nurse, runner, amateur baker. Posts about all three.” (52 characters)
