How long should a LinkedIn summary be?
The LinkedIn About section allows 2,600 characters, about 400 to 472 words. Only the first two or three lines show before “see more”, so those carry most of the weight.

What to put in it
- The opening lines: what you do and for whom, in plain words. This is what most visitors read.
- Proof: two or three achievements with numbers or names.
- How you work or what you care about, briefly.
- A call to action: how to contact you, or what you are open to.
You do not have to use all 2,600 characters. Many strong About sections are 200 to 400 words, in short paragraphs.
